Seagrbad beds could protect against norovirus infections
Cologne. The Seagrbad components could prevent Norovirus infection. This is suggested by a study of German researchers led by the University of Cologne, which will be published shortly in the "Journal of Biological Chemistry". As a result, germs, which sometimes cause life-threatening gastrointestinal infections, bind to intestinal cells with fucose sugar. According to the authors, the application of this sugar in sufficient quantity from other sources would cause the fall of the viruses. Seagrbad is a promising source. In the coming years, researchers want to develop a corresponding preparation.
