The Apple Battery Smart Case celebrates the resurrection: the case is now available for the iPhone XS, the XS Max and the XR. With the thick protective case, the battery life of smartphones can be significantly increased – depending on the manufacturer, for example, more than a full day with video streaming.
The smartphone cases contain a battery that can be charged wirelessly via Qi compatible chargers as well as via the Lightning interface. The battery protrudes at the bottom of the case. The case itself is made of silicone and is available in black and white.
Apple offers the Smart Battery Case at 149 euros, without any difference between the models. The state of charge of the battery is displayed on the iPhone. If you use the Apple Lightning to USB-C cable and a suitable charger, the device should be able to charge devices faster. How long does the store last and what is the capacity of the batteries, Apple does not reveal it.
Significantly longer terms
With the larger iPhone XS Max, the extra battery offers 37 hours of extra talk, 20 hours of internet use or 25 hours of video playback. According to the manufacturer, the iPhone XR can gain 39 hours of additional talk time thanks to the case. Users can also enjoy 22 hours of longer web browsing or 27 hours of video. For the old iPhone X, the battery case is not offered.
Apple introduced the smart battery cases for the first time in 2015. The Akkuubel was first proposed for the iPhone 6 and 6S, and then for the iPhone 6, 6S and 7 on the market. Subsequently, no corresponding energy storage has appeared up to now.
