Fast Internet comes later: the expansion of Telekom's optical fiber in Fuldabrück is delayed

But until transfer rates of up to one gigabit per second (1 GB = 1000 Mbit) are possible, it will take time. The telecom announces by an official inauguration ceremony on the village square of Dittershausen that "the first outbreaks in November of next year are completely over".

Originally, it was expected that some customers could already benefit from the fast Internet this year. Fuat Dalar, spokesperson for the telecommunications sector, said: "The resources available on the market are limited and it is difficult to find civil engineering companies." Many companies are currently busy.

The civil works are also the biggest jobs to be done before the Fuldabrücker receives fast Internet. "The work is expensive and time consuming," says Walter Haas, technical director of Huawei Germany. The group does the work for the telecom. "But we are not a civil engineering company, but we need to look for companies with whom we can work together." In addition, it is not known how long it will be possible to build in anticipation of next winter. For example, glbad fibers should not be blown at temperatures below five degrees.

The first works are starting now. In the so-called trench process, narrow slits are dug in the street or sidewalk. Empty pipes are placed in the slots in which the glbad fibers are then blown.

Fuldabrück is the only municipality in Hesse and the fifth in Germany, in which Telekom extends its network in this way. With a new marketing approach, it is testing the acceptance of fiber optic connections that are routed to the home. Until now, telephone and Internet signals were transmitted on the "last mile" of the home distribution box by a copper line. In the copper cable, however, the transmission speed decreases meter by meter.

In total, Telekom invests around five million euros to provide Fuldabrück-Dörnhagen and Dennhausen / Dittershausen with fast Internet access.
