"Financial Irregularities": Brose Bamberg rejects Beyer

[ad_1]

In September, it was announced that the CEO Rolf Beyer wanted to leave Brose Bamberg, nine times basketball champion, at the end of the year. But now, the basketball players have separated from Beyer with immediate effect. On Wednesday night (28.11.18), the Bundesliga basketball club announced the dismissal and justified it by "financial irregularities".

Background still unknown

According to the statement, the chairman of the supervisory board, Brose & GmbH, Michael Stoschek, would personally have saved the lead investor Bamberger Basketball GmbH.

Details of the irregularities mentioned or the amount of damage resulting therefrom were not yet available. Beyer did not comment on the allegations either.

Three unbeatable years

Beyer was commercial director of the Brose factory in Hallstadt near Bamberg, before joining Bamberger Basketball GmbH in 2013 as vice chairman of the supervisory board. In 2014, he took charge of the company operating basketball players.

At that time, the club had missed the Bundesliga playoff final after four series championships. With Beyer and former coach Andrea Trinchieri, Brose Bamberg was unbeatable the next three years in the BBL, winning three league titles and one cup victory.

The successor comes only in January

Already since September, the successor of Beyers is since Arne Dirks, who pbades from the German Volleyball Federation in Bamberg. However, Dirks can not start his new job until 1 January 2019. Until then, Brose's director, Niklas Beyes, will be the interim managing director, according to Bamberger Basketball GmbH.
