A biscuit from China was not that!
Lewis Hamilton (34) wins the 1000th race in the history of Formula 1 in Shanghai. Second, Valtteri Bottas (29).
The Silver Arrows win the third double of the season in the third race. Sebastian Vettel (31) is third in Ferrari ahead of Max Verstappen (21 / Red Bull) and Charles Leclerc (21) in the second Ferrari. Nico Hulkenberg (31) fails in the Renault with a defect.
Double space exchange at departure
Due to the time difference with China (six hours), the race started at 8:10 German time. As a watchmaker, it was not good. After good shopping in China in 2017 and 2018, there was a lot of trouble this year.
Doubles exchange at the start: Bottas loses his leading position in favor of Hamilton, Leclerc pbades Vettel.
A virtual safety car then slows the ground in the first lap. Kwjat collided with Norris. The young Briton must then make a pbad, Kwjat is imposed a car penalty.
On lap 11, Ferrari will exchange positions with Vettel and Leclerc. The four-time champion was previously much faster. Leclerc complains: "I was about to leave."
Vettel is on the hunt for silver arrows, while the second German has to turn off his car prematurely: On the 18th lap, Nico Hulkenberg sees his Renault fall to the water.
On lap 19, Vettel arrives at the pit stop and retrieves the hard tires. After that, Verstappen attacks directly on the lap, but the Ferrari driver struggles with everything he's got, easily pushing the Dutch on the grbad and thus remains fourth for the moment.
On the front, the silver arrows dictate the action. On the 22nd lap, Bottas arrives at the pits for the hard tires. A lap later, Hamilton, then Leclerc.
And after that? It does not happen long.
Verstappen arrives on lap 35 for his second tire change, Vettel follows him.
Mercedes reacts and then transports Hamilton and Bottas directly one after the other for a double stop.
Leclerc stays out of the pack and is second behind Hamilton, who claims his lead, and Bottas, who comes out of the pits after Monegasque. With new tires, the Finn conceded the Ferrari but easily returned to lap 40.
And even more problems for Leclerc: Vettel also benefits from cooler tires and stops. Leclerc then changes tires for the second time. For him, the podium is nothing.
The race itself also followed. The money arrows lead ruler until the end. The fastest lap is Pierre Gasly (Red Bull).
