At its developer conference (SDC) in San Francisco, Samsung finally officially commented on the updates of Android 9 Pie. As the South Korean manufacturer has announced, the Galaxy S9, the Galaxy S9 Plus and the Note 9 will receive the update in January 2019. In advance, there should be a beta test for users of Galaxy S9. Users from the United States, South Korea and Germany can participate.

So you sign up for the beta

To participate in the beta, you need to download the Samsung Members app on the Galaxy App Store or on Google Play, and then sign in with your Samsung account. On the homepage of the application should then be found under the heading "Notes" a corresponding entry. As soon as it is visible, follow the instructions on the screen.

The network also speculates that only free Galaxy S9 (Plus) models can participate in the test phase. How can you know if your smartphone has a brand you will learn in the related article.

When does the beta begin?

An exact date, at the beginning of the beta, does not yet call Samsung. However, the German fan blog AllaboutSamsung has learned, at the request of customer service, that you can register as of November 15, 2018 for the beta version of One UI. Until now, however, the Members app only contains a reference to upcoming updates for Oreo intended for older Galaxy models. So, you must be patient. Periodically check for updates to the Samsung Members app on Google Play.

In South Korea and the United States, the SamMobile registration process has already begun. In the German forum Samsung, a moderator said that the launch date mentioned by AllaboutSamsung was only a rumor and that there is no official date. However, another user received a quick response from the customer support stating that the program was about to start and that there was only a delay. We officially asked Samsung what was its launch date, but we have not received a response yet.

These changes bring the update

With the update also receives a new indentation of user interface (UI) on Galaxy phones. The interface, formerly called Samsung Experience, will be replaced by a new interface called One UI. This brings a continuous night mode, designed to make the smartphone use the evening more enjoyable. In addition, Samsung wants to reduce the number of items on the screen. Only important icons for the user should be displayed on each screen.

Given that smartphones are getting bigger, Samsung now divides the user interface into two areas: the viewing area is located at the top of the screen and the control area is located at the bottom from the screen. In the future, all controls must be found so that you no longer need to stretch your fingers towards the top of the screen. In the media library, you can have a first impression of the UI UI. Incidentally, it will also be used on Samsung's foldable smartphone.
