[Update] Soest – World-clbad sprinter Gina Lückenkemper from Soest changes her club. This has a reason.

New year, new club: As twelve months ago, the beginning of the year for Gina Lückenkemper is again linked to a change of club. The 22-year-old sprinter will start in January for the Berliner Sport-Club (SC) Charlottenburg. At the same time, the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen is back after just a year.

"I am happy to have found a new sporting home with SCC Berlin," said Lückenkemper after signing the contract in Berlin. The capital already had a place in Lückenkemper's sports resume. Three years ago, she participated for the first time as a professional athlete. At the August European Championships, she celebrated on the blue slope of the Olympic Stadium the vice-champion of Europe's 100 meters and therefore the greatest sporting success of her career. "There can be no better publicity for the club," CSC chief executive Andreas Hilmer told reporters on Thursday.

Despite the good memories of Berlin, Lückenkemper would like to start a little longer with Leverkusen's red and black jersey. However, the change of supplier in Rhineland was decisive for the change. Instead of years as in the Adidas jersey, Leverkusen athletes are appearing in the Nike outfit next season. However, Lückenkemper has a private equipment contract with Adidas, which she should have abandoned if she still started for the TSV. "I felt very good at TSV and would have liked to stay longer in Leverkusen, but my legs are my capital, which is why I continue to trust the products of my long-time partner," says Gina Lückenkemper.

Leave traces on Leverkusen

Although she only started one year for Leverkusen, she left her mark on Germany 's most successful track and field club. She persevered with her personal best in 100 meters (10.98 seconds), 60 meters (7.11 seconds) and in the 4×100 meter relay (43.55 seconds), which is three times in the list of records. club club.

Except that the color of the shirt will change for Lückenkemper with the change, but for the moment, almost nothing. "We continue to train where we are today, whether in Soest or Dortmund, where everything remains the same," said Uli art, Lückenkmpers coach. The fact that he personally continues to work alongside Lückenkemper was a prerequisite for change. "The fact that Gina changed clubs after a year was not what we had in mind, but sometimes things are the same and we will get the best of them now," said the coach. It is already the second club change in the cooperation between art and Lückenkemper. Already in 2016 and 2017, the two had worked together at LG Olympia Dortmund. For Lückenkemper, Berliners are now the fifth athletics club of his career – after his years at TuS Ampen and his youth at LAZ Soest.

Gina Lückenkemper should have finished her first competition with the new jersey on February 1st. Next, the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF) hall edition will be held in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin.
