The FDP, the Left and the Greens want to have the grand coalition's decision to increase party funding by the Federal Constitutional Court of Karlsruhe. The three factions of the Bundestag announced an opinion on a joint judicial review for Thursday morning.
The Bundestag had approved in June with the votes of the Union and the SPD a significant increase in party funding by the state. As a result, the absolute ceiling for party funding will rise from 165 million euros this year to 190 million euros the next year
The opposition had strongly criticized the project – also because it pbaded quickly through the Bundestag. The grand coalition had justified the increase, among others, with digitization, in which communication and security expenditures had increased significantly.
