A two-year-old girl is suffocated on Monday while she was eating in a daycare in Gütersloh. Police are currently waiting for a "tragic accident," a spokeswoman said. A preliminary inquiry was opened.
The city of Gütersloh stated that the child had died despite immediate relief in the municipal nursery. A mourning room has been set up for children and parents on site. There is also a book of condolences.
