Heckler & Koch converts British assault rifles

The weapons manufacturer Heckler & Koch has received, according to Die Welt, a major order to modernize and modernize the former badault rifles of the British Armed Forces. Unlike new purchase projects, as in France and Germany, the British want to convert 44,000 older SA80 A2 type rifles into the new A3 version for the equivalent of 85 million euros. announced the newspaper.

The approximate cost of 2,000 euros per weapon is calculated. The UK Ministry of Defense had to award the contract to Heckler & Koch in the redevelopment decision because the company holds the rights to the weapon. From 1991 to 2002, the German company belonged to the British arms manufacturer Royal Ordnance, a subsidiary of the British Aerospace armament company. The conversion of the weapons must take place in the British subsidiary of H & K, the newspaper said.

Rifles should be usable by 2025, according to the UK Department of Defense. The German arms manufacturer in economic difficulty can use his work well. After nine months of fiscal year 2018, the turnover of 164 million euros was higher than that of the previous year. Below the line, however, there remained a loss of four million euros.
