Two major research funding agencies in Europe and the United States want to join forces to optimize and harmonize research on neurodegenerative diseases. The Joint EU Program on Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) and the National Institutes on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), announced today a New Research Cooperation Effort in this Field
In 2017, the NIH and JPND separately requested proposals on how to study common mechanisms and neuronal pathways in neurodegenerative diseases. Joint Action invites researchers promoted under the JPND program to work with NIH-supported researchers and vice versa to propose joint activities such as workshops, data sharing and pilot experiments. The activities increase the value of scientific research in ongoing projects by accelerating the exchange of knowledge between research groups.
