Even a conviction for fornication can not hurt him: a pedophile priest can work for years in various places in Germany for the church – thanks to a benevolent bishop. Many children are victims of abuse.
Died in 2013, Reinhard Lettmann, Bishop of the Diocese of Münster, transferred a convicted pedophile priest in the 1970s, allowing further badual badault. This was announced by the Diocese of Münster at an information event in the affected parish of Rhede, in the west of Münster.
The ordained priest in 1964 was, according to diocesan information in 1968, sentenced to a probation sentence by the Bochum District Court for fornication with a dependent child. The Deputy Vicar General of the Diocese, Jochen Reidegeld, apologized to the victims at Rhede during the meeting on behalf of Bishop Felix Genn. The Catholic Church presented a study on badual abuse in September. According to this information, between 1946 and 2014, at least 1670 Catholic clerics allegedly abused 3677 minors. In the Diocese of Münster, 138 clergy found references to allegations of badual abuse of minors.
