The national elections in Hesse take place just two and a half weeks ago and are still waiting for the citizens for the final result. This is due to mbadive breakdowns. The WahlWeb software launched a strike tonight between 19 and 21 hours. Usually, the results of verified and counted ballots are transmitted by telephone and then electronically recorded by the central offices.
As Andreas Büdinger of the Wiesbaden National Statistics Office explains, the computer system reacted extremely slowly on the evening of the election, apparently overburdened. It took long phone queues, election officials had to note on the slips, the results slipped. In Frankfurt alone, 900 votes were wrongly awarded. The tests before the election night went well, according to the Bureau of Statistics. This is probably the reason why plan B. was missing. Specifically, counting is now also in the district of Frankfurt Oberrad. Here, the CDU represented only 6.9% of the second votes. In the two adjacent districts, Christian Democrats received more than 20%. According to the provincial election director, Wilhelm Kanther, ballots are often exchanged. This is due to the complexity and the late hour.
In fact, county directors should be able to check transcripts for questions about anomalies. In Frankfurt, it was obviously not always possible. The minutes were closed and the election commissions were no longer available once the work was completed. Thus, the preliminary final result on election night was also estimated by Wilhelm Kanther.
Does the SPD continue to appear before the Greens?
Asked about the preliminary results of the elections, the SPD's main candidate, Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, was surprised: "Never before has a vote been so tight." There is now a fundamental skepticism about figures.
One of the most discussed topics since election night is the performance of the SPD and the Greens. Both parties represent 19.8%. But the Greens are currently headed by 94 votes more. A total of 94 votes, which are responsible for making the Greens the second most powerful party and the big winner of the election night. Exactly, that could change now after the recount.
If the SPD returned to second place, Schäfer-Gümbel would be able to forge a closer alliance. Because it would also have a slight majority – curious way to express a single voice, just like black and green. A change of government after 19 years of opposition could be imminent.
Uncontrollable Coalition Calendar
The election period has already sparked exploratory talks. Last week, the CDU postponed its commitment to the future co-choice partner the day after the announcement of the official final result. An exploration of a common government future already existed between the CDU and the Greens.
During the discussions on the atmosphere, however, the other parties met in different constellations. New is scheduled for today an exploratory meeting between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.
