Due to the handling of exhaust gases, Opel has to call tens of thousands of vehicles in the workshops. The automaker is now defending itself against this order from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt – and is suing. A decision on this subject may soon follow.

The automaker Opel is legally complying with the decision of last October of the KBA (diesel engine recall) because of the handling of the exhaust gases. "We have appealed," said an Opel spokesman, thus confirming a preliminary report of the "mirror". The company wanted to prevent the recall of 96,000 diesel cars from being immediately completed, the magazine reported.

The Verwaltungsgericht Schleswig, which is in charge of the judicial proceedings concerning the KBA, said that an urgent procedure was in progress. It was necessary to consider whether the Bureau's decision was legally valid. A decision will fall after a written procedure, that is to say without a hearing, in late November or early December, said a spokesman for the court.

Insignia, Cascada and Zafira models affected

In mid-October, the KBA ordered the recall of diesel vehicles models Insignia, Cascada and Zafira (2013-2016 construction year) in accordance with the Euro 6 emission standard. During these unacceptable defeats, devices have been discovered, which should be removed. Opel rejected the accusation.

At the request of the KBA, Daimler also has to recall about 774,000 Mercedes diesel models in Europe due to an illegal shutdown device. The car manufacturer in Stuttgart, however, believes that the technology is legally allowed and has appealed the decision to the KBA, which has not yet made a decision.
