Berlin – Dawanda gives up its commercial portal for handicrafts and design on August 30th. This was announced by the company Saturday in Berlin. Dawanda was founded almost twelve years ago. The company has established hand-made products as a new category in online retail, said Claudia Helming, founder and CEO of Dawanda, in a statement. "Nevertheless, in recent years, we have had to admit more and more that we will not be able to achieve growth alone."

According to the company, there should be a severance pay for employees. Most of them have already been released.

Dawanda to Etsy

Buyers and sellers on the platform recommended the move to the US shopping portal Etsy. The two companies announced Saturday that they had reached an agreement. A moving tool will be available for sellers in Dawanda early next week. With the closure of the platform, visitors to the Dawanda website would be redirected to Etsy

In the coming months, the Etsy and DaWanda teams will work to ensure a seamless transition for buyers and sellers. From the week beginning July 2nd, DaWanda sellers should be able to import their shops, articles and magazine magazines easily and free of charge.
