D The Bundestag approved Thursday night with the majority of the coalition the federal budget for 2018. At a roll call vote, 386 deputies voted in favor of the government, 282 voted no. This ended the final three-day consultation on the budget, which has a volume of 343.6 billion euros. A new debt is still not provided. On Friday, the Federal Council is also expected to approve the budget.

Due to the general election and extended training of a government, the consultation and the decision on the budget for 2018 have been delayed in an unusual way. Since the beginning of the year, a budget management has applied, but especially strongly limits the possibility of new financial accents of the government.

Already Friday, the Cabinet must discuss the federal budget for 2019. The project of the Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz provides revenue and expenditure of 356.8 billion euros each; That's 3.8% more than the current year. A significant increase of around four billion euros is expected to affect the defense budget. This will be already increased in 2018, but to a lesser extent.
