The values of Pininfarina's first vehicle are impressive: 1,900 hp, 2,300 Nm of torque, less than two seconds at 100 km / h and twelve seconds at 300 km / h. Only at 350 km / h is over. "We can let the shape of the car speak more clearly"says Luca Borgogno, design director of Automobili Pininfarina. "We have fewer inputs and outputs than a gas burner"he explains the freedom of design. The statement is surprising, but as the blue fabric disappears from the heading, it becomes clear what it means. The sideline looks like a continuous line in pencil. Inlets for cooling the brakes are well hidden. Only the mark in front of the rear wheel arch interrupts the coherent image. "These are bady hips"says the designer and smiles. What works like a bump in the body has no aerodynamic but optical reason. Here, the light reflections dissipate, which makes the page more interesting.
Photos can not be taken from the sports car. My smartphone disappears when entering the design studio of Cambiano, near Turin, in an opaque shell. The work title, the PF0, will be presented to the public in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. Perschke was with VW for several years. He has expanded his management team with experienced drivers with stops at Porsche, BMW and Volvo. Perschke recently managed sales for Audi in India. From that moment, he knows Anand Mahindra. The Indian is chairman of the Mahindra group. The industrial conglomerate also has a car division. As a strategic investor, Mahindra holds a majority stake in Pininfarina SpA since 2015 with its 650 employees. By signing the contracts, Anand Mahindra promised to fulfill the dream of the founder by shaking hands with Paolo Pininfarina: his own car, decorated with the Pininfarina logo.
Battista "Pinin" Farina founded the company in Turin in 1930. Her Pinin nickname, Der Kleine, officially became part of the family name and company name in 1961. But as a logo remained until today. An F for Farina. The company has designed countless models for automakers such as Ferrari and Maserati, Bentley and BMW. But Turin has never built its own car. The Munich take over now.
