This is official: after days of blurry photos of the new Porsche 911 ghost on the Internet, we finally finally see the 992 series.
"Stronger, faster, digital" Porsche calls the 911er. The first two features are clear: in the more powerful version of Carrera S, the 992 will deliver a power of up to 450 hp, an additional 30 hp.
► So, Porsche has set the bar very high for the most powerful models – the report remains constant, the next GT2 RS is expected to bring more than 750 hp.
Even the eighth-generation performance has progressed: the four-wheel-drive Porsche only slows the speed of the 911 Carrera 4S in one second and less than 3.7 seconds at 3.7 km / h, or 0, 4 seconds faster than 10 km / h. current series.
The Sport Chrono package brings 0.2 seconds
► If you want to add a little extra, buy yourself another 0.2 seconds with Sport Chrono. The new 911 Carrera S reaches a maximum of 308 km / h, while the all-wheel drive penalty reaches 306 km / h.
Externally, the eighth generation differs little from the current series: the front is drawn more strikingly; This is evident, for example, in the visible contours on the front hood and the larger air intakes. The body is 4.5 inches wider at the front.
The back is also just discreetly renewed: instead of individual taillights, a narrow band of light pulls from one side to the other, the air inlet is divided into vertical columns and not horizontal.
Behind her, the good old six-cylinder boxer engine vibrates and gasps as in previous generations. The fuel consumption that Porsche alone could handle: 8.9 liters consumed from the rear-wheel drive Carrera S, the four-wheel drive Carrera 4 S consuming nine liters (according to the NEDC).
Networking helps with the navigation system
The interior of the dream car is really visible: the instrumental plane is shifted backwards, as in the early 911s, the five round instruments do not overlap anymore, they are fully mapped.
► The center console fills a large touch screen; There you can use many functions and Internet services. The new generation of Porsche is online permanently and also uses it for driving safety.
Porsche Communication Management (PCM), for example, relies on online navigation, which has a particularly high density of information thanks to data from other vehicles. This feature is standard equipment.
The badistant detects moisture on the road
The new badistants make the new generation of Porsche even safer: a world first is the "wet mode", which detects a wet pavement by means of sensors and prepares control systems such as ABS and l & rsquo; ESP at changing driving conditions.
The "wet mode" is as standard as the warning and braking badistant, which records moving objects with the help of cameras and, because of their direction, a possible collision in the time – this relates to automatic emergency braking.
For the first time, there will be a night vision badistant with infrared camera as additional equipment. For a supplement (not yet known) will also automatically regulated the "distance control tempo" and the speed at standstill emergency shutdown.
The new model will be more expensive
► An increase is missing in the press release from Porsche: "more expensive" – because, besides performance, Porsche also increases the price by about 8%.
The new 911 Carrera S is offered in Germany at a price of 120 125 euros (previously 112 075 euros), the 911 Carrera 4 S costs 127 979 euros (previously 119 453 euros).
