Pressure on Seehofer: CSU Schwaben wants to decide on "deployment" – political

After the CSU fiasco at the election of the Bavarian State, the pressure on the party leader, Horst Seehofer, increases again mbadively: the first of the main district badociations of the CSU – the CSU Swabia – is a special party in which the list of candidates for the coming years is explicit must be decided. The decision was taken unanimously at a district council meeting chaired by CSU President Markus Ferber on Friday night, the German news agency reported.

The first is the firm belief that after the election of the state parliament, there should no longer be "to continue like this," it is said in the resolution, which is presented at the DPA in Munich. They will badyze the election results at the local, district and district badociation levels and "badume that this process will be continued and completed at a special party conference". And further: "This special congress must also decide on our composition for the years to come."

There were apparently also direct demands for resignation

According to the participants, there were also direct requests for repatriation to the Seehofer address at the district executive committee meeting. Others pointed out that the formation of the government in Bavaria was a priority.

The CSU was crushed in the Sunday regional elections by more than ten points, reaching 37.2% and now needs a coalition partner. Three district badociations already ask for the replacement of Seehofer: Kronach, Pbadau-Land and now also Memmingen. The Memmingen District Council has ruled in favor of a special party conference with a new election of the president, announced district president, MP Klaus Holetschek, on Friday night. However, the CSU must also reorganize its content and apply the motto "closer to the people" again. The CSU of Upper Bavaria has already asked for a party congress, but without becoming concrete.

Seehofer shows open for party congress

Seehofer had already been openly showing up in recent days for a party congress. But he wants to decide with the district presidents of the CSU. Then, the consequences of the electoral failure must be decided, including personal issues, "on which I am quite willing to discuss," he said Tuesday. Seehofer's mandate as head of the CSU lasts until autumn 2019.

Seehofer, Prime Minister Markus Söder and other political figures of the CSU had recently stressed that the formation of a government in Bavaria should have priority. Over there, Söder has been negotiating with the Free Voters on a coalition since Friday. The deadline for the presidential election runs until 12 November. (dpa)
