Prices of beer and juice have increased significantly in Germany

Consumers have to dig deeper into their pockets for a drink this summer. Especially with beer and some fruit juices, prices have gone up.

In June, beer prices were 4.1% higher than those of the same month of last year, the Federal Statistical Office reported on Monday in Wiesbaden. Several large breweries have increased prices in winter and spring, resulting in higher costs. In addition, the trend is for special beers, for which citizens pay more than for common varieties.

Apple juice prices have gone up again. Consumers had to pay for that 11.6 percent more than in June 2017. The reason was a bad apple harvest because of the cold weather. Lemonades also cost 5.7% more

For other beverages, however, price increases were more moderate. Wine rose 2.0 percent from the same month last year, and cola 1.5 percent. Prices for mineral water remained almost stable at over 0.7% as orange juice was slightly depreciated.
