The scam of tickets from the Swiss company Viagogo continues: the online platform can still buy tickets for the Rammstein Tour 2019 – despite a court decision.
The presale of the first tour of Rammstein's rock legends in the stadium began three weeks ago. From the first day, the group sold 800,000 tickets. Shortly after, the tour was exhausted. On Viagogo, there were still tickets for the concerts.
BUT: All regularly purchased cards are personalized. Resale is not allowed at all. The band then obtained in court a preliminary injunction against Viagogo.
▶ ︎ Ticket offers for Rammstein are still online despite the ban. In addition, they are announced with inserts such as "There are only 71 tickets left" or "Only 1 ticket available". Even these messages are doubtful, because even several hours later, the so-called last tickets are announced in equal numbers. Impressions may encourage people to make spontaneous purchases.
This is not the first time that Viagogo is discredited. By early 2018, the platform had offered tickets for the World Cup, even though they had not yet been made available by FIFA. In addition, the offers were significantly overpriced. Also in this case, there was a prohibition order.
The case of the year 2017 is even worse. Viagogo then sold tickets for actress Carolin Kebekus at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. Everything is false! At the request of BILD, the advertised event did not exist. The expensive tickets of 352 euros – completely worthless.
British court threatens Viagogo prison leaders
Not only in Germany, the scam site is causing a sensation. The UK Supreme Court yesterday asked the company to comply with UK law. If the platform does not stop misleading the customers, one must expect high fines or even the arrest of its leaders. UK competition authorities have accused the site of calling at the end of the booking process for significant additional charges and offering out-of-price used tickets.
Specifically, the court now asks Viagogo to inform buyers of the exact face value of the notes and to prevent sellers from promoting tickets they do not own. In addition, sellers should be identified to facilitate repayments.
The protection of German consumers also warns against Viagogo: "Consumers can not always claim that they buy valid tickets and that the event really exists," said Susanne Baumer, market chief, Market Watchdog Digital World.
Via Viagogo, sellers can offer tickets for concerts, sporting events and other online events. However, offers are often scams: no delivery, invalid tickets, flight prices. And: for customers, the platform is not transparent, because buyers do not know who they buy the ticket at the time of booking. Viagogo acts as an entrepreneur, real sellers are hard to identify and repayments are often impossible.
