Puma's running shoe features a thick heel module that included a pedometer, a chip and a power supply in the 1980s. This allowed runners to record distance, time and calories, to connect the shoe with a cable computers from home and transfer their data.

The reissued version of the RS Computer running shoe retains the look of the original, but the technology relies on modern components. The novelty in the shoe is a three-axis accelerometer, LED indicators, a USB port for charging and Bluetooth 4.0 to connect the wireless shoe to the smartphone. There is also an iOS and Android application for data processing. The application uses 8-bit graphics that were visible on compatible machines from the 80s. In the application is also a hosted 8-bit computer game. Puma had already reissued many of his RS shoes in the past.

In the 80s, there were not only clothing items in the form of Puma shoes, but also its rival Adidas: Adidas was still two years earlier with its Micropacer shoes on the market. They were also able to record distance, pace and calories via sensors. To display the data, a small screen has been integrated into the tongue of the shoe. Unlike the Puma shoe, Adidas models could not transmit data to the computer.
Puma publishes only 86 pairs of individually numbered retro models sold in Puma stores in Berlin, Tokyo and London, as well as in KITH chain stores. The shoes will be available on December 13, 2018. The price per pair is 650 euros.
