VW's Emden plant produces less Pbadat than expected, which explains the additional closing days.

The decision was made: at the VW factory in Emden, there will be additional closing days and off-peak hours in January. This was agreed on Wednesday by the factory management and the company committee. After the Christmas holidays, the tapes must rest for an additional 13 days – until January 23rd. Short-time work should be recorded for this period. The reason for the extension of the Christmas holidays is the reduction of demand for Pbadat, made in Emden. As a result, there were several periods of short-time work this year. During short-time work, employees receive 60% of their salary from the Employment Agency, VW increases the amount to full salary.

From January 200 Pbadat per day less

It was already known that as of January, only 940 vehicles would be built instead of the previous 1,140. This should prevent other short-term work. Of the 9,000 current permanent employees, no one will be fired, said VW Emden plant spokesman, Jan Wurps, NDR 1 Lower Saxony. A firm contract was offered to the 500 temporary workers at VW in Kbadel or at Porsche in Stuttgart. The interest is great, said the spokesman. He did not name specific numbers.

In the future, electric cars will be manufactured at the Emder factory

From 2022 to in the VW Emder plant, electric cars are raging, so the group wants to make the site safe from seizures. Starting in 2027, internal combustion engine models will no longer be manufactured in Emden.
