Before parliamentary elections in Pakistan A suicide bomber blew himself up at a rally in Peshawar. Among the victims at least ten is a member of a prominent political family.

At least 10 people were killed in a suicide bombing on a countryside in the city of Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan. The attacker was dead, the police said. More than 20 people were injured.

Police confirmed that among the dead is Haroon Bilour, a candidate of the left liberal ANP. Bilour's father, a provincial minister, was also killed in a suicide bombing in Peshawar in 2012.

Voting in about two weeks

It is unclear who is behind the latest crime. In Pakistan, many extremist groups are active. Since 2015, the number of attacks has dropped sharply, mainly because of mbadive military offensives against some Islamist groups.
