A lot of wind, lots of sunshine, little rain: this year, so disappointing for farmers, the energy industry can look at it in a positive way: in a few months, the share of renewable energy has increased by 8%.
The share of renewable energy in electricity consumption reached 38% in the first three quarters of this year. This figure was three points higher than in the same period of the previous year, according to the calculations of the Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Center in Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) and the Federal Association of Energy Research. Energy and Water Industry (BDEW).
In January, April and May, renewable energies reached up to 43% because a lot of wind was blowing and the sun was shining.
If, in the fourth quarter, the wind was blowing on average, the eco-share of the German electricity mix for the whole of 2018 could amount to just under 38%.
