The Cebit is dead, long live the Cebit!
After more than 30 years, this is the story: the largest computer show in the world is organized.
Declining bookings for 2019 sealed the end. In summer, organizers have again tried to reposition the show as "the number one digital event in Europe".
In total, however, the new edition attracted only 120,000 people to the Hannover exhibition center. Too little for the organizers. After all, the fair has counted up to 800,000 visitors in the best conditions.
In 2019, Cebit's "industry-related digital themes" will now be continued at the Hanover Mbad.

Exhibitors took advantage of the show to present hardware and software developments. It was the same in 1995. At that time, Bill Gates, 39, presented to the public his "Windows 95" operating system. It was one of the most radical and successful novelties of the computer era. A year later, the operating system was put in place.

In 1997, Robotics introduced the biggest novelty of the pre-internet era: the Flash Flash Sportster 33.6. Apart from the typical Ratter and Piepsound, the modem was 56K on the net. This allowed users to download 100 megabytes in about four hours.
For this time: fast and revolutionary. And everyone wanted to have one after!
