US President Donald Trump on Friday announced tariffs on goods worth $ 34 billion from the People's Republic.
Beijing Who flanks first – Beijing or Washington? China threatens higher tariffs on US products for Friday. This was announced by the customs authorities Thursday on their website. Observers call this a kind of reprisal strike. US President Donald Trump had already announced Friday that US special rights would take effect 25% on Chinese imports worth 34 billion US dollars. Contributions on an additional $ 16 billion of Chinese products are expected to be reviewed on July 13 and could come into effect in early August. At the same time, China wants to increase the burden on 500 US products
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce warned that planned US measures would affect global supply chains – including foreign channels in China. The government also reiterated that it did not want a trade war, but that it was preparing for it. On Wednesday, it seemed that China would first raise its tariffs, that is to say, that it would be the first blow.
China wanted to raise tariffs at the same time as Washington. Due to the time difference, China would not have reacted but would have acted: Beijing has twelve hours ahead of Washington. Later on Wednesday, however, the Beijing plan changed: "China will certainly not make the first move," said the Chinese government.
But even so, climbing is far from being avoided. If the Chinese had raised tariffs before the United States, it would have made the possible settlement of the trade dispute even more improbable than it already is. Because now comes to retaliation, Trump has threatened other special taxes on imports from China: and would then have a value of 200 billion US dollars.
