The wife of Federal President Steinmeier falls on the stairs

Small shock after a fall on a flight of stairs: the wife of Federal President Elke Büdenbender, was slightly injured. Nevertheless, some appointments must be canceled.

A slippery airplane staircase was fatal to Elke Büdenbender, the wife of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. An ambulance had to bring the 56-year-old man to the nearby Münster hospital.

There was nothing serious and the injury was only mild, but Büdenbender should cancel some dates in the coming days, said a spokeswoman for the federal president. She had slipped Friday at the airport Münster / Osnabrück by leaving the plane on the stairs.

Steinmeier and his wife went to Münster on the occasion of the award ceremony of the Westphalia Prize. Steinmeier presented this prestigious prize to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania this Saturday.
