Berlin The United Internet telecommunications company (1 & 1) plans to bid for the new 5G mobile licenses, but feels disadvantaged by the policy. The mobile phone summit in early July led Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United Internet, to a deal club, namely the agreement between Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) and network operators to divide the market between existing suppliers.
"The market for new entrants remains virtually closed to further protect the oligopolistic revenue of network operators," said Dommermuth the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS).
Competitors rejected the allegations strongly. The Ministry of Transport in Berlin pointed out that the Federal Network Agency was responsible for the procedure.
The new 5G mobile communication standard offers not only maximum speeds of up to ten gigabits per second. The technique also allows much higher data volume per square kilometer per mobile station. The auction is expected to take place in early 2019. Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica currently operate their own mobile networks in Germany
