VW customers can now join a model declaration suit

Volkswagen diesel customers in Germany can now join the action in model declaration against the group. The corresponding complaints register was opened on Monday.

The Federal Office of Justice (BfJ) provides online registration forms for the reporting template. About the same people can be registered in the complaints register.

At the beginning of November, the VZBV and the ADAC had lodged the complaint form against VW with the Oberlandesgericht Braunschweig. The Law on the Introduction of the Designation Complaint has only recently entered into force.

No process risk for consumers

The purpose of the procedure is to clarify whether consumers are entitled to compensation for the damage caused to the Wolfsburg Group vehicles affected by the exhaust gas scandal. Klaus Müller, head of the vzbv, explained that the registration was of particular interest to those who had spoken against individual actions.

"Many injured diesel drivers do not have the time, the willingness to take risks, but not the cost of individually paying Volkswagen to complain." As Müller explained, entry is "free and without legal fees".

Vzbz expects to connect tens of thousands of diesel drivers

The procedure should be "announced in time on the website of the authority". Once the application is registered in the application register, the Federal Office sends a confirmation by mail to registered consumers.

However, for the trial to start in Braunschweig, at least 50 people must be registered in the register within two months.

If this is the case, the court then establishes fundamental objectives in determining the possible crimes of society. Consumers can then use it when they incorporate their individual claims themselves.
