According to residents, the unfortunate development has forced their schoolchildren to stay home, especially by the time their end-of-year promotion exam ended in the second issue of Kpiri.
The residents also deplored the extent to which their economic activities, particularly agriculture, were particularly affected by the fact that most of them operated the dam and had to cross the bridge to access their farms.
The women of Kpiri number three express their sorrow because they can no longer carry their millet, maize and other farm produce on the bridge to the grinding mill of Agric, a neighboring crushing community.
The situation as a whole has left the community desperate with many calls to the government and stakeholders to help them.
Kpiri's chief, Naba Atogzo, revealed exclusively to this reporter that he was saddened by the situation, describing the work done up to now as disappointing.
The chief said that they would be better off without the dam if the situation remained the same and called on stakeholders to come to their aid.
Mr. George Akalbire, a young farmer from the community revealed that his farmland is located in the second Kpiri and must cross the bridge before entering his farm.
He stated that he had recently plowed his farm before the bridge collapsed, but that he had not been able to plant since, because of the situation, adding that farmers were suffering from the unexpected event.
He pleaded with the government for him to come to their urgent help.
The District Director of West Gonja, the Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibreal, in response to this report on a local radio station based in Damongo, PAD FM, said he had taken good note of the concerns expressed by the people.
He added that his office had also taken note of the poor quality of the dams built in Kpiri and Laribanga as part of the one million people per constituency, saying that he would not sign the certificate guaranteeing the payment. to the entrepreneur.
According to him, he has since reported the case to the Regional Minister and Minister of the Special Development Initiative.
As a temporary measure, he stated that they would build a miniature bridge so that the affected communities could continue to maneuver in the meantime, while steps are being taken for the contractor to return to them. places to do the necessary, in the best conditions.
Kpiri is one of four other communities in West Gonja District currently benefiting from the government's One Village, One Dam project.
One Village, One Dam is part of President Aluffo-Addo's plethora of promises in memory of President Aluffo-Addo for the 2016 general election.
