The Kempinski Hotel in Accra was the occasion of the third edition of the Ghana Beverage Awards, which allowed Storm Energy Drink to become the product of the year.

The Ghana Beverage Awards of 2018 had more than 30 registrations from beverage companies, which reflects the warm welcome given to the major players (beverage manufacturers).

The 16 categories had fierce competition, but in the end, the following winners were won:

Energy drink of the year – Storm Energy

Cocoa / Chocolate / Dairy product of the year – Vitamilk

Water of the year – BelAqua

CSR Company of the Year – Twellium Industries

International Beer of the Year – Heineken

Manufacturing Company of the Year – Kasapreko Company Limited

Senior Speaker and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry; Before entering the government, Robert Ahomka-Lindsay had revealed that he had previously worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and that he was therefore taking drinks prices very seriously.

He observed that there are opportunities in the beverage sector that residents should take advantage of given the volumes of fruit juice imported into the market. The addition of tiger nut juice for sale is therefore very promising.

"When we talk about a district, a factory, we recognize that the beverage industry is an important part of this process of industrialization," the hon. Ahomka-Lindsay said.

The minister spoke of the government's intervention to boost the growth of the sector, noting that "local beverage manufacturers enjoy a five-year tax holiday and allow the importation of raw materials for duty-free production".

The exalted minister instructed the beverage makers to explore the possibilities and be creative because he had just returned from an event where he had been served 26 different teas, an experience he will surely keep for a long time.

This year's Ghana Beverage Awards have encouraged the participation of the general public by offering them the opportunity to name their favorite drinks and go beyond to determine the winner of the "product of the year" category. the most coveted by voting via various platforms.

The prize categories include Beer of the Year, Spirit of the Year, Year Bitters, Year Water, Fruit Juice of the Year, Soft Drink of Year year, Energy drink of the year, CSR of the company of drink of the year, manufacturer of the year and product of the year.

The new categories added are: international wine of the year, international spirit of the year, international beer of the year and new year drink.

Ghana Beverages Award 2018 was organized by the Global Media Alliance in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Agency, the Ghana Food and Beverage Association, the Ghana Tourism Authority, the National Association of Bar Operators and the Institute for Food Research (CSIR).
