Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said funding for the construction of 10 landing sites along the coastal belt had been secured and work should begin soon.
Landing sites include Teshie in the Greater Accra Area, Axim and Dixcove in the Western Region; Elmina, Winneba, Mumford, Senya-Bereku, Fetteh-Gomoa and Moree in the Central Region; and Keta in the Volta region.
Mr. Bawumia revealed it by joining Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, Edina's supreme chief, and the locals, to celebrate the Edina Bakatue 2019 festival in Elmina on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
Mr. Bawumia pointed out that while Elmina residents are celebrating Bakatue to symbolize the beginning of the fishing season, the government will continue to take action and put in place programs that will make fishing less tedious and more profitable.
He badured the population that the first phase of the ongoing Elmina Heritage Bay project with reinforced solid land and a respectful garden under construction would be completed to promote tourism. the people of Elmina.
