The iconic king of speech who helped define the broadcast interviews leaves behind a mine of words
Longtime CNN host Larry King, one of the most prominent faces on television, died on Saturday, January 23, 2021, after a weeks-long battle with Covid-19. He was 87 years old. The news was announced on his official Twitter account by the company he co-founded, Ora Media.
King, who is recognized by his suspenders and black-rimmed glasses, has become an icon thanks to his “ easy-to-do ” approach to the question-and-answer interview format with around 20 journalists.
In his 25 years with CNN, the award-winning talk show titan has hosted over 30,000 interviews, from movie stars to athletes to every sitting president from Gerald Ford to Barack Obama. His genuine curiosity for people and the world, and the way he always listened attentively to his guests without interruption, be they a celebrity or an ordinary person, were endearing to many.
