(WCMH) – Tyson Foods, Inc. is recalling about 12 million pounds of frozen ready-to-eat chicken strips that may be contaminated with foreign matter, particularly pieces of metal, the Inspection and Safety Department has announced. United States Department of Agriculture Food Saturday.
The government agency said it was an extension of the March 21 recall, which had identified 69,093 pounds of tapes.
The chicken strips were produced at different dates from October 1, 2018 to March 8, 2019 and have expiration dates from October 1, 2019 to March 7, 2020.
The recalled products carry the factory number "P-7221" on the back of the product packaging.
The problem was discovered when FSIS received two consumer complaints about foreign material contained in the chicken strips.
FSIS said officials are now aware of six complaints during this period regarding similar metal parts, three of which claim an oral injury.
Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
