Police in the central region have arrested some 14 shepherds to help investigate a rape case against a 13-year-old girl in Gomoa Adzintem.

This follows a manhunt against four shepherds who leaped up and defiled the minor, while inflicting injuries on the victim and her father in the Central region on Friday, August 27.

According to the police in their press release seen by JoyNews, the special operations carried out by the Formed Police Unit (FPI) with the staff of the Center-East Regional Command made it possible to recover 2 simple cannons and 2 shotguns.

“Forty-nine AA ammunition was also recovered,” said the statement signed by Ag. Added Director General of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori.

After the arrest, an identification parade will be conducted by the police in the community to help identify the real suspects who committed the heinous crime against the innocent child and his father.

Currently, the 13-year-old victim and his father, identified as Kwabena Quaye according to information received JoyNews are in stable condition and are receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare has issued a directive for a team of clinical psychologists to offer counseling to the affected family.
