LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – Fifteen flu-related deaths have been reported this season in Arkansas.
The latest report from the Arkansas Department of Health indicates that the victim was aged 45 to 64 years old.
The CDC has reported a total of 19 pediatric deaths across the country this season, including one in Arkansas.
Since September 30, 2018, more than 4,000 positive influenza tests have been reported in the online database of DHA by health care providers. In week 3, 55 counties reported influenza. The majority of reports came from Benton, Washington, Pulaski, Pope, Faulkner, Craighead, Drew, Baxter, Clark, Garland, Sebastian, Newton, White and Carroll.
Of the influenza antigen tests used to distinguish influenza A and B virus types, 79% were influenza A viruses and 21% influenza B viruses.
