16-year-old boy hit by stray bullet in Asokore Mampong has died

A young boy who was rushed to the government hospital in Manhyia after being hit by a stray bullet at Aboabo number two in Asokore Mampong municipality in Ashanti region has died.

The 16-year-old boy who has been identified as Abdul-Gafar Kassim has been confirmed dead at the government hospital in Manhyia.

Another person who was also shot and wounded is also admitted to the same hospital.

Citi News’ Hafiz Tijani reported that the family of the boy who gathered at the hospital for the remains of their deceased was devastated by the death of their loved one.

“We just saw the corpse when we came here [the hospital]. We don’t want our corpse to waste time in the morgue, which is why we are here.

The uncle of the deceased, Sulemana Umar, confirmed the death of his nephew to Citi News.

The young boy was hit by a stray bullet after a group of armed youth from the region brandished their weapons and fired warning shots as part of the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

The incident happened shortly after the Eid prayers on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Meanwhile, police have opened investigations into the shootings.

They are also looking for the suspects who are currently at large.

There is currently a police patrol in the communities of Asokore Mampong Municipality after the incident.
