170 teachers receive professional development training in Sekondi

Essipong (W / R), July 16, GNA – Mr. Addo
Danquah Akufo, Regional Director of Western Education, asked
teachers to be open minded, to learn more and to innovate to effectively deliver
quality teaching and learning in schools.

"You must adapt to the rapid evolution
trends in the education sector and in the world in general through
education programs to enable you to equip subsequent generations with
skills required and keys to the future ".

The Regional Director of Education has been
speaking at the opening ceremony of GNAT and the Canadian Teachers' Federation
The "Nkabom" project which offers "continuing education" for teachers on
variety of topics.

The professional development program
gathered 170 GNAT delegates from its 12 administrative regions of the two
Western and Northwest regions to follow training.

Mr Akufo said that curriculum reforms
implementation in September meant that teachers were very well equipped
good to be able to deliver on the new program.

He said to make children functional in all
aspect of life was essential to enable them to contribute effectively to the
development of the nation.

Mr. David Ofori Acheampong, National GNAT
Secretary, said that the revision of the program is important to enable the country
focus on critical areas from kindergarten to grade six.

He expressed the hope that the restructuring
of the educational program would contribute positively to education
objectives of creating quality human resources for the country.

The national secretary said that success has come across
preparation and that vocational training was one of the ways to help them
become more relevant and capable of transmitting the same knowledge to their
fellow teachers.

Mr. Hugo Prud – man, team leader of the
Canadian resource person, stated that the team viewed educational collaboration as a
good initiative to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

He said to teach with the right attitude and
skills have always produced results ", we have the privilege of being part of this long
permanent educational relationship … we are happy to contribute to the human
development of this country ".

Teachers would be trained early
early childhood education, mentoring, calculus, inclusive clbadrooms, technology
directed learning and learning of gender among others.

Apostle Charles Kaku, the regional GNAT
President, urged participants to acquire a good knowledge of transfers in their
respective districts.
