A teenager who "would not leave home without makeup" because of her severe acne revealed how she had finally cleared her skin.

Conagh Kathleen, of Brisbane, developed acne around the age of 15 and "tried everything" to solve the problem.

"I took some pretty potent medicine for a while, but when I came out, my skin panicked and went crazy," Conagh told FEMAIL.

After trying many "topical treatments, masks, diets and lasers," she came across a skin care regimen that actually works – and has since transformed her skin.

Conagh admitted to developing acne about four years ago and this had an almost immediate effect on his self-confidence:

"At first, it did not bother me much, but when the situation worsened, I became very conscious of my skin and did not leave the house without makeup," she explained.

"I think I have tried all the treatments against acne in the sun.

"From proactive to naturopaths, skin clinics, herbs, supplements, antibiotics, diet changes, pills, peels, facials and all the skin care products on the market – I've tried everything and nothing seemed to work. "

At the end of her sentences, the 15-year-old girl then decided to take Roaccutane, a powerful treatment for acne.

"I thought it was the only thing that would work because I tried everything," she said.

"It had a quick effect and was one of the best decisions I ever made.

"Having acne is really hard and emotionally difficult. I can not say how weakly it weakens you and breaks your confidence.

However, Roaccutane is not the only one to have helped the teenager to have confidence in her skin.

Conagh has a dedicated skin care plan in place, which means she "hardly ever has an escape".

"I'm using a vanity planet wringing brush with the Origins Check & Balances sparkling face cleanser.

"I think you can see a visible difference in my skin since this use because it cleans the skin without drying it out.

"I'm following it: the Super B complex of Asap Skin Care and the Super C serum from Asap Skin Care."

Conagh also uses countless products from The Ordinary's low-budget skin care brand, including their 2% salicylic solution, 10% niacinamide + zinc, and the retinoid (pictured).

"I love the way these products work with my skin," Conagh said.

"I'm really grateful for finally having a clear complexion.
