An 8-year-old from Texas and a 10-year-old from Ohio died of flu-like symptoms.

Martin Ray Campbell, Jr., age 8, was from Corpus Christi, Texas. He was diagnosed with the flu Sunday. His family took him to the emergency room twice, but he died Monday, reported KRIS. He would have been 9 years old on Sunday. The family still plans to organize the party they had planned for him. He will be put to rest next week, KRIS reported.

In Texas, when a family mourns the death of a child, another family, this time in Ohio, is also mourning the loss of a child from the flu.

A fourth-grade student from southwestern Warren County died Wednesday of a cardiac arrest related to angina and flu.

Mason City Schools spokesperson Tracey Carson told parents of the death of Sable Gibson, a 10-year-old Western Row Elementary School student, in a written message to parents.

The fourth grader died this week of a heart attack following a sore throat and flu.

Western Row hired counselors to help the boy's friends and clbadmates cope with his death.
