2 deaths in an outbreak of hepatitis A in Florida County

STUART, Fla. (AP) – Health officials have announced the deaths of two people in a reported outbreak of hepatitis A in a Florida county.
According to Treasure Coast Newspapers, representatives from Martin County and the state met Friday to discuss a couple from Palm City after the coroner's office announced their deaths, "complications of the Hepatitis A. "
Records show 13 cases of hepatitis A in the county since the beginning of the year, including eight diagnosed since Monday. The Florida Health Department identifies a county during an outbreak when it has more than five cases.
Health officials said that children enrolled in a public school since 1995 should already be vaccinated. The vaccination process against hepatitis A consists of two injections given six months apart.
Hepatitis A is a liver disease transmitted by contaminated food or water.
