AUSTIN, Texas – An oil and gas company operating in West Texas has donated $ 1 million to fundraising for the repair of what is touted as the world's largest pool fueled by a source.

About $ 2 million worth of repairs are underway at the Balmorhea State Park Pool (Bal-Mor-RAY '). The leaders of Apache Corporation presented a check Thursday at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation in Austin.

The historic pool, located 193 kilometers southwest of Midland, has been closed since last May after a partial collapse during the cleanup. The experts blamed the erosion linked to the flow of San Solomon Springs.

In August, officials announced a fundraiser to repair the pool built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Apache has promised Thursday an additional $ 1 million for the creation of an endowment fund for Balmorhea National Park.
