Two students at St. Francis Xavier Minor Seminary in Wa contracted Covid-19.

The rector of the school, Rev. Pamphilio Tengan, said one of the students complained of health issues on Monday.

Talk to JoyNews“Rafiq Salam, he said the student was sent to hospital and treated brought to campus but the doctors showed up just 24 hours later to bring him back.

Officials say their test showed the student to be a carrier of the novel coronavirus.

“They didn’t want to bring the ambulance to scare the other students, so we had to get the student out of campus to join the ambulance and go to the isolation center,” the rector said. JoyNews.

He said the second student complained of poor health on Wednesday and was also taken to hospital. He tested positive after showing signs of Covid-19.

The two students, he added, are being treated at the Upper West Regional Hospital treatment center.

He revealed that thirty-four other students who came into contact with the students were quarantined in two of the dormitories.

He urged parents who had their wards at the seminary not to panic, adding that the situation was under control.

Upper West Deputy Director of Health Services for Public Health, Dr Richard Wudah-Seme, has pledged to help the school deal with the situation.
