Two thieves were killed after an attack on a Renault / Hyundai car dealership in Atico Junction along the Kaneshie-Odorkor highway.

The deceased were members of the armed group who jumped on a cashier around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the establishment and seized her bag containing the day’s sales.

While the incident was unfolding, staff from the Accra Regional Police Command intervened, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Police said two of the thieves were shot and rushed to the police hospital for treatment, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

One of the thieves who died was later identified as Bright Nyarko, 24, a former company employee, while the other has yet to be identified.

However, the other union members fled the scene and are still at large.

One of the victim’s bags contained an automatic pistol with five 9mm cartridges and GHS 3,650 in cash.

The two bodies were taken to the morgue of the police hospital for preservation, identification and autopsy.
