Two traders are fighting for their lives at the Tamale University Hospital in the Northern Region, after being shot dead by gunmen on Monday night.
Issahaku Musah, a cattle trader, and Masahudu Abdullah, a yam farmer, were seriously injured during the late night attack when thieves ambushed them on the night. Buipe-Fufulso highway, in the central district of Gonja, in the Savannah region.
Eight other traders who were also aboard the KIA Rhino cargo truck traveling from Damongo to Buipe were also slightly injured and were transported to the Buipe Polyclinic. They have since been treated and unloaded.

According to him, one of the victims, Guzman Aziz, said that they were back in Damongo after going to the Buipe market, when seven armed men took possession of their weapons in a place located about 700 meters from the Fufulso Junction of Buipe.
The bandits, armed with automatic AK 47 rifles, started firing at their vehicle, causing many casualties.
The Buipe police arrived on the scene only when the thieves discovered the stolen objects.
This flight scene is sandwiched by two police checkpoints, Buipe and Fufulso.
It is a popular and notorious place for armed robbery activities where thieves usually have a battlefield after every attack.
