LAGOS, June 4 (Xinhua / GNA) – At least 20 terrorists have been killed as a result of a joint operation
by forces from Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger, a Nigerian serviceman
The spokesman confirmed Monday.
Timothy Antigha, a
Nigerian army officer who is also the main spokesman for the multinational
armed forces, said in a statement to Xinhua that the terrorists had been killed by
troops operating around the general region of Arege, Malkonory and Tumbum Rego.
He said the operation
was part of the ongoing offensive to eliminate terrorists from the Islamic State
the Lake Chad region.
"Sadly,
Four Multinational Joint Force (MNJTF) personnel were injured
during the shooting and were evacuated for urgent medical reasons
attention, "he said.
The Nigerian officer
stated that the MNJTF remained committed to carrying out the mandate of the force and to
called for the continued support and solidarity of the good people of the lake
