Shawn Mendes dominated the Juno Awards this weekend, winning trophies in five of the six categories in which he was named, including the best artist, album, pop album and songwriter of the year.
And the Juno Fan Choice Award was awarded to Toronto-born sensation sensation Avril Lavigne.
Mendes, who was not present at the Junos, while he was participating in a world tour in Europe, appeared Sunday night in front of a nationwide Canadian television audience via a recorded performance of his single "In My Blood".
Mendes entered the Junos this year with six nominations at the front of the pack. Earlier Saturday night, at the industry awards dinner preceding the telecast, Mendes awarded four more trophies to the best artist, best single, best pop album for his third album entitled and best author- composer.
