One of the two enumerators participating in the current 2021 population and housing census exercise died prematurely in Saaka, in the Haut-Est region.
Faisal Issah and Gifty Abane were involved in an accident on Wednesday morning June 30 as they made their way to the Googo and Tambiugu communities in Zebilla.
The two on motorcycles crashed with a faulty trailer that was parked on the road.
Faisal Issah, a nurse, sadly died on the spot while Gifty Abane, a teacher by profession, suffered injuries.
Meanwhile, Gifty Abane was admitted to Zebilla District Hospital for treatment. Faisal Issah’s remains have since been returned to his family for burial.
Following the incident, the day’s counting exercise was halted as some colleagues boycotted to support their colleague who was being treated at the hospital.
In addition, investigators are asking for insurance and a risk allowance against dog bites.
