American rapper Savage 21 has been arrested by immigration officers, according to reports.

According to US media, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said: "All his public personality is false. In reality, he came to the United States from the UK while he was a teenager and went over his Visa".

He entered the United States in July 2005 on a nonimmigrant visa, but was unable to leave it at the end of a year later, ICE said.

His Wikipedia page states that his real name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph and that he comes from Atlanta.

He says that the 26-year-old grew up around crime, dropped out of school and started raping after the death of a friend.

According to the US TMZ website, 21 Savage was arrested prior to his deportation for illegal residence in the country and for a crime after the 2014 conviction for drug-related offenses.

According to her lawyer, Dina LaPolt, TMZ, she was trying to get the rapper out of detention "while we work with the authorities to dispel any misunderstanding".

"Abraham-Joseph is a role model for the country's youth, especially in Atlanta, Georgia, and is actively involved in leading programs to help financially-literate youth financially," she added.

In December, the rapper released his second album, I am> I was, which ranked at the top of the Billboard's 200-page chart.

The same month, he apologizes for a word in one of his songs that speaks of "Jewish money".

This followed a similar apology from NBA star LeBron James, who shared Savage's words on her Instagram account, where the critics had drawn her.

LeBron James said that he thought it was a compliment.

21 Savage said that he was "sorry if I offended everyone".
